This 90-minute session is designed to continue the discussion related to equity in diverse early childhood settings with a focus on emergent bilingual children. Using information from the book, The Essentials: Supporting Dual Language Learners, participants will discuss current and foundational research that supports the role of children’s home language(s) and their families in the educational process. Key concepts include translanguaging, developmentally appropriate practices, funds of knowledge, and second language acquisition.
